Colorado State is off to its best start in school history with an 12-0 record and a spot in this week’s top 25 rankings. However, as No. 24 Colorado State looks to complete a perfect non-conference schedule, it will do so without one starter and one key reserve.

Starting forward Tiel Daniels and backup guard Gian Clavell stayed in Fort Collins to recover from injuries while the Rams traveled to play New Mexico State, the team announced on Friday evening. Daniels, who 5.9 points and 4.6 boards per game in 12 starts, is dealing with a calf injury while Calvell, the team’s fourth leading scorer at 10.3 points per game, is out with a shoulder. Both hope to return to action on New Year’s Eve against Boise State, the start of Mountain West Conference play.

Saturday’s game against the Aggies marks the third true road game for the Rams, who defeated Colorado and Denver by a combined three points in their two road victories.

Colorado State begins conference play at home against fellow Mountain West contender Boise State followed by a road game against New Mexico and back home to face Larry Nance in Wyoming. That three-game slate is in an eight-day span.
