Iowa State redshirt sophomore Sherron Dorsey-Walker will be leaving the program to transfer, according to a report from ESPN‘s Jeff Goodman. The 6-foot-4 native of Michigan appeared in only three games during the 2014-15 season and couldn’t crack the Cyclone rotation despite an early-season suspension to shooting guard Matt Thomas.
Dorsey-Walker also had problems getting minutes last season as a redshirt freshman on a deep Iowa State team, but with a limited bench early in the 2014-15 season, the sophomore never found his way on the floor. Dorsey-Walker scored nine total points and grabbed four rebounds in 39 minutes of action in 2014-15.
Since Dorsey-Walker couldn’t earn minutes when the Cyclones were looking for depth, this shouldn’t be a concerning loss for Iowa State. Dorsey-Walker also took an official visit to Temple during the recruiting process and could also opt to transfer to a school closer to his native Detroit.
