Creighton is off to a solid 8-3 start on the season but the Bluejays lost a key guard from its rotation on Tuesday as the school announced that junior guard James Milliken has been suspended indefinitely. The suspension comes due to an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Per the release, Milliken will not travel, practice or participate in any team activities during his suspension. A decision on his standing with the team will likely come after the school’s holiday break.

The 6-foot-2 Milliken is averaging 17.2 minutes per game this season for Creighton as he’s put up 5.7 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest. Milliken is coming off of his career-best performance last week as he scored 23 points in 34 minutes of action in a double-overtime win over South Dakota. Milliken was 4-for-7 shooting three-pointers in the win and is shooting 37 percent from distance for the season while also shooting 41 percent from the field and 76 percent free-throw shooting.

Without Milliken, Creighton should be able to adapt because of its depth. The Bluejays currently have nine players averaging at least 14.8 minutes per game this season and should be able to fill Milliken’s minutes for the next few weeks.
