Jim Boeheim’s postgame rant is, unfortunately, spot-on (VIDEO)

Jim Boeheim opened up his press conference after Syracuse survived Louisiana Tech, 71-69, in the Carrier Dome on Sunday afternoon with a five-minute lecture on just how much his team is getting wrong a month into the season.

His laments are fairly typical for a coach with a young team without much depth -- players are making bad turnovers, guys are playing out of position, he’s working on figuring out his rotation, things like that -- but in typical Boeheim fashion, he made sure to note that the biggest issue right now is his team’s inability to catch a pass with two hands.

Give it a listen:

He wasn’t done, either.

Boeheim closed the press conference by yelling about his team’s inability to play to the scouting report and how they’re going to “struggle to win a game” in the ACC if this keeps up:

Boeheim is right about all of this, and it’s not necessarily his fault, either.

This is what happens when the point guard you plan on having run the show for at least two seasons heads to the NBA after one. You don’t think things would be different with Tyler Ennis out there for the Orange? It’s part of the reason that Boeheim is so frustrated about talk of Chris McCullough leaving school early, because his program is going to have issues against next season if he’s gone.

Perhaps this is his most telling quote: “We’re learning, I hope. I don’t see it, but I hope we will learn. There’s not that much time left. Nothing’s going to happen magically. But I know that I cannot coach catching a basketball.”

It could be a long year in Upstate New York.
