Coaches’ Wives Teaser from Jonathan Moore on Vimeo.

In college basketball the head coach is a figure who receives a lot of publicity, with the level of success achieved determining the tenor of said attention. Win and the coach is praised universally, with younger prospects being given the label of “rising star” until they land a head coaching job with an elite program. Lose enough games and the coach may find himself on a “hot seat” with many openly wondering when he’ll be fired.

Riding along for the entire ride, the good and the bad, are the coaches’ wives and those women have significant roles within their families and the program they’re a part of. Whether its raising children, handling all of the other family-related responsibilities their husbands are too busy to address, or even stepping forward to provide a caring voice for the players, there is a lot on the plate of a coach’s wife.

Jonathan Moore is producing a documentary on these women, entitled “Coaches Wives,” and among the wives who participated are Kathy Auriemma (wife of UConn head coach Geno Auriemma) and Mindy Rice (wife of UNLV head coach Dave Rice). Above is the trailer for the documentary, and more can be learned about “Coaches Wives” on the film’s Facebook page.
