Maryland’s injury issues aren’t going away anytime soon.

Less than a week after news came out that Dez Wells had broken a bone in his wrist, it appears that Evan Smotrycz has suffered a setback on his surgically-repaired broken foot.

After playing 22 minutes in his season-opener against Monmouth last week, Smotrycz played just eight minutes on Sunday in a win over VMI, sitting out the entire second half. He appeared to roll his ankle, according to Dan Martin of CSN-Baltimore, and his status for Wednesday’s game with No. 8 Virgina is in doubt.

“I don’t know about Evan. … I hope [he will be available],” Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon said. “He was moving pretty good. We’ll see. If he’s not, we’ve played basically seven games without him so we’ll figure out how to play without him if he’s not healthy.”
