Minnesota will be playing in the preseason NIT at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, but they will be without Daquein McNeil during the trip.
McNeil was suspended by the program on Tuesday following an arrest for domestic violence on Monday afternoon. He did not make the trip to New York.
And, frankly, his status with the team is likely up in the air given the nature of the charges he is facing.
McNeil is facing two domestic violence charges, and according to a police report obtained by the Star Tribune, McNeil is alleged to have beaten his girlfriend with a belt and choked her. He’s being charged with a felony.
McNeil, a sophomore, is averaging 3.3 points this season. He was originally recruited by Richard Pitino to Florida International.
