In what was a difficult 2013-14 season for Tommy Dempsey’s Binghamton Bearcats, guard Jordan Reed cemented his status as one of the top guards in America East, posting averages of 15.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. However Reed’s production hasn’t carried over into 2014-15, as he’s played just 10.6 minutes per game in five contests before sitting out the team’s loss to Army Tuesday night.

Reed missed the team’s pregame shootaround, resulting in his being sidelined for that game. Wednesday afternoon it was announced that the junior is taking an “indefinite leave of absence” from the program.

Two freshman front court players have led the way offensively and on the boards for the Bearcats through six games, Willie Rodriguez (12.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg) and Dusan Perovic (10.3 ppg), and sophomore forward Nick Madray is averaging 7.3 points per contest.

With guards Romello Walker and Yosef Yacob and wing Justin McFadden all having started five of Binghamton’s first six games, there’s unlikely to be any significant changes on the perimeter when it comes to accounting for Reed’s departure.
