Saturday night was an important one for the Rhode Island basketball program, as they knocked off No. 21 Nebraska in overtime at the Ryan Center. However before the game head coach Dan Hurley’s played paid tribute to Avery Harriman, the son of Nebraska assistant Chris Harriman.
Avery’s battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia for the third time in his young life, and in his honor the team took the court for pregame warmups in T-shirts that read "#AveryStrong” on the front.
Below are a couple photos of the team in the shirts, and there’s also an “Avery’s Army” support page on Facebook. Fans also chanted Avery’s name prior to the start of the game.
