George Washington was up by four on No. 9 Virginia entering halftime. However, the Cavaliers would storm out of the gates to start the second half led by star wing Malcolm Brogdon.
The Cavaliers used that early run to spark at 37-16 second half score, running away with a 59-42 win against the Atlantic 10 contender on Friday night at home. Brogdon ended with 15 points and five rebounds while Kethan Savage led the Colonials with 13. Justin Anderson scored a game-high 18 points for Virginia, throwing down an impressive dunk in each half.
In the first half, Brogdon found Anderson dashing across the baseline for a reverse alley-oop jam. In the second, posted this putback stuff to put Virginia up 40-34. The Cavaliers scored 16 second-chance points off 14 offensive rebounds.
