Wofford helps elderly veteran live out dream of coaching in college (VIDEO)

Wofford partnered with the Second Wind Dreams foundation on Veteran’s Day to give 84-year old Jack Morris a chance to live out his dream.

According to a story from GoUpstate.com, Morris always wanted to be a part of a college basketball team, either as a player or a coach, but after high school, he went to work to help support his family. Two years later, he was drafted and fought in the Korean War. When he returned to the States, he once again had a chance to play, but instead got a job with the U.S. Postal Service, married and started raising his family.

He never did get a chance to join a team, but thanks to Wofford and head coach Mike Young, he’ll have a chance to coach from the bench for a game this season. The Terriers were contacted by Second Wind Dreams, an organization that helps grant senior citizens one final wish, and decided to allow Morris to sit on the bench as a coach when they take on Florida National University on December 6th.
