Less than a week after receiving a verbal commitment from one postgrad prospect playing at Hargrave Military Academy, Rutgers reeled in a second Sunday evening.

According to multiple outlets 6-foot-2 combo guard Justin Goode has decided to join Eddie Jordan’s program next year. Thursday one of his teammates at Hargrave Military Academy, 6-foot-6 guard/forward Kejuan Johnson, made his verbal pledge to the Big Ten program. Rutgers’ 2015 recruiting class now consists of three players, with four-star point guard Corey Sanders committing during the summer.

In speaking with Jerry Carino of Gannett New Jersey about his decision, Goode discussed what he believes to be his strengths on the court.

“I’m a shooter; that’s what I do,” the 6-foot-3 Goode said. “My mid-range is improving because guys like to hug up on me from the outside.”

Asked for his comfort range, Goode said, “I get all the way back to the NBA three.”

Both Goode and Johnson took official visits to Rutgers last weekend, and according to Carino’s story the tandem is expected to sign their National Letter of Intent Wednesday on the first day of the fall signing period. Rutgers has just one senior amongst its guards heading into the 2014-15 season, with that player being senior Myles Mack.

But perimeter depth is something Jordan and his staff had to improve in their 2015 recruiting class, with junior Bishop Daniels and freshman Mike Williams being the lone scholarship guards with eligibility remaining beyond this season. The hope within the program is that the three commitments they’ve received will help in that regard, while also making them a more formidable program once they begin taking on programs in their new conference.
