Duke gets double-figure scoring from seven in big exhibition win [VIDEO]

Mike Krzyzewski

Duke opened its season on Tuesday night as they played an exhibition game at home against Livingstone, winning easily 115-58.

Seven players finished in double-figures for the Blue Devils led by freshman Justise Winslow’s 19 points. Matt Jones chipped in 17 points, Jahlil Okafor and Grayson Allen each added 15 points, Quinn Cook had 13 points and Amile Jefferson and Semi Ojeleye each finished with 10.

Winslow performing well is a good sign, but Matt Jones shooting the ball well is a really positive sign. If Jones can become another shooter for them, it gives them more scoring punch from the bench.

Freshman Tyus Jones only scored four points in the game but had 11 assists and only one turnover, which is another positive sign for the Blue Devils. Turnover-free basketball and positive leadership at the lead guard position is something Duke needs this season.
