The West Coast conference released their annual preseason poll on Monday, and it should come as no surprise to anyone paying attention that Gonzaga found themselves sitting atop those rankings.

While the Zags have had some down seasons in the past, they have the makings of a team that can legitimately compete for a Final Four this season. Kevin Pangos is healthy, Kyle Wiltjer is eligible and they have a freshman that is the son of Arvydas Sabonis.

Personally, I would have picked Saint Mary’s to finish second in the conference over BYU, but I think that it’s close. Here is the full poll:

1. Gonzaga (9) 81
2. BYU (1) 69
3. Saint Mary’s 62
4. San Francisco 59
5. San Diego 47
6. Portland 45
7. Pepperdine 29
7. Santa Clara 29
9. Loyola Marymount 19
10. Pacific 10

The WCC also announced their Preseason Player of the Year, and this year, the award went to BYU guard Tyler Haws. Again, it’s tough to argue with that, given just how good of a scorer Haws has proven to be in the past two seasons. I probably would have picked Kevin Pangos, but that’s just me.

Here is the full, ten-man all-WCC first team:

Jared Brownridge, Santa Clara
Kyle Collinsworth, BYU
Stacy Davis, Pepperdine
Johnny Dee, San Diego
Tyler Haws, BYU
Przemek Karnowski, Gonzaga
Kevin Pangos, Gonzaga
Kriuze Pinkins, San Francisco
Thomas van der Mars,Portland
Brad Waldow, Saint Mary’s
