Every year Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo dons some kind of costume for his team’s preseason event, and Friday night was no different as he showed up in full costume and joined a Kiss cover band on stage at the Breslin Center. The role play was part of a celebration marking Izzo’s 20th season at the helm at Michigan State, and prior to his arrival the head coach and his family discussed what he could have done career-wise if not for coaching.
One possibility: joining a band as an accordion player, with Izzo flashing back to a conversation with old college roommate Steve Mariucci about his joining a band while they were in school at Northern Michigan. With funny-looking fake mustaches the two acted out the “conversation,” with the video above leading into Izzo’s arrival at “Michigan State Madness.”
