Report: Stanford guard to miss action with a broken wrist

Stanford’s back court depth took a hit this week as sophomore guard Malcolm Allen has a broken wrist, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Allen is expected to miss two-to-three weeks with the injury.

The 6-foot-1 Allen only appeared in 16 games during his freshman season with the Cardinal, as twin brother Marcus made more of an impact last season as a reserve combo guard.

But Malcolm Allen’s loss still hurts because the Cardinal could use stable depth behind returning starters Chasson Randle and Anthony Brown.

Freshman Robert Cartwright and Marcus Allen are still available, but having all five of those guards playing during this practice-heavy portion of the season could have helped solidify the role players in Stanford’s rotation this season.

Stanford opens the season on Nov. 14 against Wofford.
