Kelvin Sampson’s first season back in the collegiate ranks has not gotten off to the best start.
After losing both Danuel House and Tashawn Thomas to transfer, Sampson’s starting point guard will now be out until around Christmas with a broken foot.
L.J. Rose, a former top 100 recruit that began his collegiate career at Baylor, suffered the same foot injury as Kevin Durant, according to a report from CBSSports.com. Rose, a 6-foot-4 junior, is a pass-first point guard that averaged 8.9 points and 5.5 assists as a sophomore.
With Purdue transfer Ronnie Johnson sitting out the season due the NCAA transfer rules, expect JuCo transfer Cavon Baker to take over starting point guard duties in Rose’s absence.
Houston is coming off of a 17-16 season.
