Henry Ellenson committed to Marquette head coach Steve Wojciechowski on Thursday morning. He’s the fourth top 100 commitment in the class for the Golden Eagles, picking them over Michigan State and Kentucky.

The news was first reported by ESPN.

Ellenson is a 6-foot-10 power forward from Wisconsin that currently ranks No. 17 in Rivals top 150, although a number of the other recruiting services have him slotted as high as top five. He’s an elite shooter despite his size, and his mobility on the perimeter and improving athleticism make him one of the most intriguing prospects in the class.

“He’s a skilled forward who can really handle the ball, pass and score from the perimeter,” NBCSports.com recruiting analyst Scott Phillips said. “But he can also hold his own as a rebounder and defender thanks to his length and improving mobility.”

Ellenson was a priority for the Marquette staff given his talent and his proximity to the school’s campus, and it seemed like the Golden Eagles took the lead this summer when they accepted Henry’s brother Wally, a track star -- an all-american high-jumper -- and basketball player in his two seasons at Minnesota, as a transfer.

Ellenson is the fourth top 100 recruit in the class for Wojo, joining guards Nick Noskowiak and Haanif Cheatham as well as fellow big man Matt Heldt. They’ve been recruiting well since getting to campus, but it’s hard to over-emphasize just how important Ellenson is to the Golden Eagles. He’s talented enough that he could end up being a guy that leaves school after one or two years, but he’s also the kind of player that could end up being a program-defining recruit.

With the class that the Golden Eagles have coming in next season to go along with the young talent currently on their roster, things look bright for Marquette’s future.
