SMU has landed a commitment from Jarrey Foster, a three-star shooting guard from Houston.

Foster held offers from Rice and Louisiana-Lafayette as well, but he had been getting some attention from in-state programs like Baylor, Texas and Texas A&M. His recruitment had stalled over the summer, however, as Foster tore his ACL in July.

“Foster is a kid that several coaches were hoping to see this summer before he got injured,” Rivals’ recruiting analyst Eric Bossi told PonyPride.com. “He has good wing size, is a very good athlete and he plays with intensity. His teammate at North Shore (HS in Houston), Kerwin Roach, had a huge profile boosting when he got a chance to play on the perimeter after playing in the post for North Shore. Many Houston area observers felt that Foster would have seen his stock take a similar leap had he been healthy during the summer and able to show what he can do on the wing.”

Foster becomes the second commitment for Larry Brown’s SMU program in the Class of 2015, joining point guard Sedrick Barefield.
