Kentucky’s NBA draft combine will be nationally televised

Kentucky does not officially open the season until a home opener on Nov. 14 against Grand Canyon. However, the Wildcats are set to make another televised appearance next week.

In August, ESPNU and the newly-formed SEC Network aired all six exhibition games from the Big Blue Bahamas Tour. On Oct. 10, the ESPNU cameras will be back on the Cats as the network will televise Kentucky’s NBA Draft combine, the school announced on Friday.

Last month, it was reported that head coach John Calipari was in the process of finalizing a scouting combine for all 30 NBA teams. Calipari will reportedly keep NBA executives and scouts out of practices afterwards, as a way to limit distractions heading to the season, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported on Sept. 9.

According to the Univeristy of Kentucky, Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg and Avery Johnson will be the broadcast team with former Kentucky All-American guard Tony Delk serving as a guest analyst. The practice, which includes 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 scrimmages, as well as individual drills will be at 3 p.m.

This was one of a few innovated ideas Coach Cal has had this offseason to help his players attract the interest of NBA franchises. In August, he followed in Brad Stevens’ footsteps and hired a director of statistical analytics to breakdown his players per-minute and efficiency stats. Six Kentucky players are currently slotted in DraftExpress.com’s 2015 NBA mock draft. That projected list does not include forwards Marcus Lee, or Trey Lyles.
