Justin Jackson, a four-star forward, became the first commit in UNLV’s Class of 2016, multiple outlets reported and confirmed on Monday night.

“I’m excited to announce that I have officially committed to the University of UNLV,” he tweeted moments later.

The 6-foot-7 Jackson is a native of Canada, but is entering his second season playing for powerhouse Findlay Prep out of Henderson, Nevada. Since the schools inception, Findlay has been a pipeline to the Runnin’ Rebels program. This season the UNLV roster will feature two former Pilots in reserve forward Christian Wood and five-star freshman Rashad Vaughn. Todd Simon, who is entering his second season with UNLV as an assistant coach, had served as the Findlay Prep head coach for one season.

According to NorthPoleHoops.com, Jackson is considered the second best Canadian prospect in the junior class. He is one of three Findlay Prep players to average 10.0 points, 6.0 boards, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game in a single season, head coach Andy Johnson said in an email.

Jackson is considered the No. 33 overall recruit his class, according to Rivals. He is the first 2016 commit for Dave Rice.
