Report: Five-star 2015 center Stephen Zimmerman will wait until spring

As one of the elite prospects in the 2015 class, Stephen Zimmerman has his choice of the top college basketball programs.

The 7-foot native of Las Vegas will be taking visits soon after hosting in-home visits, but according to a report from Evan Daniels of Scout.com, Zimmerman will decide in the spring and won’t sign a Letter of Intent.

Zimmerman’s mother, Lori Stevens, confirmed as much with Daniels.

But first come official visits for the No. 10 prospect in the Rivals 2015 rankings as Kansas (October 10), Kentucky (October 17) and UCLA (October 24) host Zimmerman over three weekends straight weekends.

Zimmerman’s final official visit will be to the campus Arizona on November 7. It should be noted that Zimmerman’s list also includes Indiana, North Carolina, Notre Dame and UNLV.

This is really a smart decision for Zimmerman and his family to make. With personnel changes, coaching moves and all sorts of other factors, why not decide until late? We’ve even see college coaches flirt with NBA jobs deep into summer months, so not signing a binding Letter of Intent is also a good move.

More elite prospects could look into doing this sort of thing and a few in the past have signed financial aid agreements instead of a Letter of Intent.
