One of the nation’s elite point guards will announce his decision on Wednesday afternoon as five-star floor general Jalen Brunson is down to two schools.

The native of Lincolnshire, Illinois in suburban Chicago is down to Illinois and Villanova, sources confirmed to NBCSports.com. Brunson will announce his decision at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the district administration building behind Stevenson High School. Brunson’s announcement was first reported by Eric Bossi of Rivals.

The 6-foot-1 lefty point guard took official visits to Illinois and then Villanova the past two weekends and cancelled future official visits that were scheduled for Michigan State, Purdue and Temple.

Regarded as the No. 15 overall prospect in the 2015 class by Rivals, Brunson’s recruitment is a big deal because there aren’t a lot of elite point guards in the class.

A noted winner, Brunson has led Stevenson High School to the the final four in Illinois’ Class 4A -- the state’s biggest class -- the last two seasons, only to be eliminated by Jabari Parker and Simeon and Jahlil Okafor and Whitney Young.

Both Illinois head coach John Groce and Villanova head coach Jay Wright were spotted at multiple Stevenson games last season and also throughout the July live evaluation period trailing Brunson.
