Minnesota added another player in the 2015 class on Friday night as a source confirmed to NBCSports.com that big man Jonathan Nwankwo committed to the Golden Gophers.
The 6-foot-9 Nwankwo is considered a three-star prospect, according to Rivals, and is a native of New York, just like recent Minnesota 2015 guard commit Dupree McBrayer.
Nwankwo should be able to play some center for head coach Richard Pitino as the second-year head coach has the beginnings of a solid 2015 recruiting class. Virginia native and guard Kevin Dorsey is also committed in the 2015 class for Minnesota.
Now the Golden Gophers will likely target two in-state players to finish out the class. Guard Jarvis Johnson is on an official visit to Minnesota with Nwankwo this weekend while forward Alex Illikainen lists Minnesota in his final four.
Pitino has proved this summer that he can still land talented players from the East Coast and if he can round out this 2015 class with some local players it will be a nice second class for Minnesota.
