For just the second time in the last 19 years, Kentucky was not the program with the highest attendance in the country.

They finished second to Syracuse, who led the nation in home attendance for the first time since 2005 with an average of 26,253 fans. Kentucky was second with 22,964 fans per game. Louisville was the only other program that averaged more than 20,000 fans.

Other interesting attendance tidbits from the NCAA’s release:

  • Five programs increased their attendance by more than 2,000 fans per game this season. Four are obvious: Nebraska, SMU, Florida-Gulf Coast and Virginia. The fifth? Syracuse.
  • The Big Ten Conference broke its own conference attendance record by averaging 13,534 fans per game.
  • More than 32 million fans attended college basketball games this season, which is actually the seventh-most in NCAA history.
