Wake Forest took a major blow on Friday as the Demon Deacons lost sophomore forward Tyler Cavanaugh to transfer. The news was first reported by SB Nation‘s Griffin Kurzius.
Cavanaugh averaged 8.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in his sophomore year as the 6-foot-9 forward also shot 42 percent from the field, 31 percent from three-point range and 79 percent from the free-throw line.
He was expected to be a starter this season under first-year head coach Danny Manning and it leaves Manning with a hole in the frontcourt for next season. A native of Albany, New York, Cavanaugh will have two seasons of eligibility remaining after likely sitting out a year due to NCAA transfer restrictions.
