Report: Nimrod Hilliard IV transferring to NC-Central

NC-Central has landed their replacement for Jeremy Ingram.

Nimrod Hilliard IV, who averaged 14.1 points and 4.9 assists for Lamar as a junior last season, has reportedly committed to NCCU. He is expected to be eligible immediately because of the APR issues that the Cardinals are going through.

When a team is banned from the NCAA tournament for the remainder of an athlete’s eligibility, he can transfer without sitting out for a year. It’s why Alex Oriakhi was eligible immediately after transferring from UConn to Missouri and Roscoe Smith had to sit out for a season after transferring from UConn to UNLV.

Assuming he can play next season, Hilliard will accomplish the impressive feat of playing for four schools in four years. He went to South Dakota as a freshman, transferring to Jacksonville College (a JuCo) as a sophomore before heading to Lamar last season.

NCCU is coming off of a MEAC title and a trip to the 2014 NCAA tournament.

Hilliard was Mr. Basketball in the state of Wisconsin as a senior in high school.
