Olivier Hanlan to return to Boston College

There was speculation that he would be off to the NBA and there was a concern that he might transfer out of the program, but it appears that Boston College’s Olivier Hanlan has made a decision about his future: he’s not going anywhere.

“Not trying to make a big deal about this but it’s just to confirm I will be back at BC next year,” Hanlan told Tom Layman of the Boston Herald in a text message on Wednesday

That’s big news for the Eagles and new head coach Jim Christian. Hanlan averaged 18.5 points and 2.9 assists as a sophomore at BC last season. But with Ryan Anderson transferring and Joe Rahon reportedly seeking a transfer as well, losing Hanlan could have turned Christian’s first season on Chestnut Hill into a nightmare.

It’s still going to be a rebuilding process for the Eagles, but the good news is that they’ll be able to build, for at least one season, around one of the best scorers in the ACC.
