In the aftermath of their team’s 60-54 win over No. 4 Michigan State in the East regional final, students at UConn were out in full force celebrating the program’s fifth trip to the Final Four. It’s also the first trip with head coach Kevin Ollie, a UConn alumnus, leading the way.
And given the the issues the school had to navigate over the last two seasons, with Jim Calhoun retiring, last season’s postseason ban and the way in which conference realignment played out, this is a big accomplishment for the basketball program.
The team’s game plan for Sunday’s game, per a tweet from Neill Ostrout of the Manchester (Conn.) Journal Inquirer was straightforward:
