This tournament has not been kind to the bluebloods.
Duke kicked off Friday’s action by getting upset by Mercer. Kansas did the same on Sunday, falling to Stanford just hours before North Carolina lost to Georges Niang-less Iowa State.
Three of the nation’s most well-known programs, three of the country’s best head coaches, three of the most talented rosters in the tournament. All three are heading home before the NCAA tournament’s first weekend comes to close.
And if that sounds like that’s something that doesn’t happen all that often, you’re right:Duke, North Carolina & Kansas all fail to make the Sweet 16 - 1st time since 1979 that at least one of them hasn’t made 2nd week.

And that doesn’t even take into account the fact that Syracuse got bounced by Dayton last night.
The good news?
The two bluebloods from Kentucky are still left in the dance, and they will square off next Friday.
That will be fun, won’t it?
