Norwich University signs 10-year old leukemia survivor

Jimmy Giroux is 10 years old and has already been through more in life than any of us could imagine.

He beat leukemia.

It took a lot out of him, however, and the disease and corresponding treatments did a lot of damage to his body, including effecting his growth.

Which is why what Norwich University in Vermont did is so cool. The basketball team signed Jimmy to a Letter of Intent on Monday, letting him lead them in layup lines and in pregame cheers.

“I’ve never met a kid with more heart in my entire life,” said senior Tom McDonald. “I’ve never met a more competitive person, in anything, in my entire life.”

“It’s an honor to do this because most people wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing,” Jimmy Giroux said.
