It appears there may be some hi-jinx afoot in Laramie?
A weird thing happened at halftime of the New Mexico-Wyoming games last night. According to Lobo beat writer Geoff Grammer, someone sitting on the New Mexico bench noticed a Wyoming staffer messing with the basket that the Lobos would be shooting on in the second half. After Alex Kirk did the always-scientific reach-up-to-try-to-grab-the-net test, the Lobos asked for the rim to be measured.
Regardless, the rim had to be lowered before the second half began.
It’s unclear whether or not Wyoming actually shot on a basket that was too high, and no further action was taken once the rim was lowered. Craig Neal declined to comment on the matter after the game.
I think we may have discovered the secret to home court success in the Mountain West.
