Florida International guard Raymond Taylor was pulled from the team’s game against Bethune-Cookman on Thursday as the school looks into the matter of his eligibility after an NBA Draft snafu has left the 5-foot-6 guard’s eligibility in question.
The senior guard has explosive speed and an ability to get in the paint, but according to John Infante, his eligibility could be in question since Taylor withdrew from the NBA Draft after the April 10 deadline.
According to NBA press releases, Taylor withdrew from the draft sometime between May 3 and June 10 of this year. That would put him in violation of the NCAA’s “testing the waters” rule which requires basketball student-athletes to withdraw from the NBA draft by the start of the regular NLI signing period to retain their eligibility.
