Kerwin Okoro to miss 4-6 weeks after knee surgery

A tough year for Kerwin Okoro just got a little bit harder.

Okoro will miss the next 4-6 weeks after undergoing a knee surgery on Friday. Okoro suffered the injury in the practice before Rutgers’ season-opener against UAB. Without Okoro, Rutgers will have just three guards on their roster — Myles Mack, Jerome Seagears and D’Von Campbell — and only nine scholarship players until Junior Etou’s suspension is over.

Okoro had a ton of issues with the NCAA when he tried to transfer into the Scarlet Knight’s program. Already grieving from the death of his father and his brother during the 2012-2013 season, Okoro transferred from Iowa State closer to his New York City home, but he was initially denied a hardship waiver.
