Kent State pulled off a big early-season win over Temple 81-77 on Monday night by outscoring the Owls 43-35 in the second half.
The Owls had all five starters finish in double-figures but Kent State ultimately had a balanced scoring effort led by Derek Jackson and Devareaux Manley with 17 points each. Temple finished with only two bench points.
The Golden Flashes finished 11-for-22 from behind the three-point line and Temple struggled to match a pretty even game by only knocking down five-of-19 three-pointers.
Kent State is expecting to compete in the MAC and this is a huge win for them on the road early in the year to move to 2-0.
Temple (1-1) dropped its home opener by losing to a team that shot the ball slightly better from the outside in an otherwise even contest. They still need some bench scoring to emerge but their starting five playing so well is a good start.
