Chicago State prepares for trip to Costa Rica

chicago state

Chicago State is making one of the more interesting conference switches this offseason as they move from the Great West to the WAC.

Although the Cougars only finished 11-22 last season with a 3-5 mark in the Great West, they did rally late in the season to win the Great West conference tournament, which garnered them an invite to the CIT.

UIC defeated Chicago State in the first round of the tournament, but the conference tournament win gave the Cougars and coach Tracy Dildy something to build on going into this year into the WAC.

Now Chicago State will get 10 extra practices and three exhibition games when it travels to Costa Rica for an offseason trip this week.

Head coach Tracy Dildy took the time to answer some questions about the trip on the Chicago State University Athletics’ YouTube page.

The WAC will look drastically different this season, but the move to the conference ensures Chicago State a NCAA Tournament bid opportunity after years of independence and a move to the Great West -- which did not recognize the conference tournament for an NCAA Tournament bid.
