Hunter Mickelson was a top 100 recruit coming out of high school, but after spending two seasons struggling to find consistent minutes in Mike Anderson’s 40 Minutes of Hell system, the 6-foot-10 sophomore will be transferring out of Arkansas.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette first reported the news.
Mickelson averaged 5.5 points and 3.5 boards this season for the Hogs, but he’s just not the right fit for their system. He is talented, however, and should be a nice addition for any program that can pick him up.
Mickelson was part of a five-man recruiting class in 2011 that was supposed to change the direction of the Arkansas program. But Devonta Abron transferred to TCU, Aaron Ross never made it onto campus and now plays at Texas Tech and BJ Young entered this year’s NBA Draft. The only player remaining from that class is Rashad Madden.
