Baylor senior center Brittney Griner has eclipsed the all-time record for career blocks in women’s basketball, recording her 664th block in a blowout win by the No. 1 Lady Bears over visiting Oklahoma.

The record-breaking block came with 10:25 to play when Griner swatted away a shot from Oklahoma junior Aaryn Ellenberg. Griner finished with eight blocks on the game, to go along with a team-high 15 points.

Griner breaks the record previously held by St. Mary’s Louella Tomlinson, who played for the Gaels from 2007-11.

The men’s NCAA career blocks record holder is former Mississippi State center Jarvis Varnado, who blocked 564 shots in his four years with the Bulldogs. Among other men’s leaders are Adonal Foyle (Colgate, 492), Tim Duncan (Wake Forest, 481), and Alonzo Mourning (Georgetown, 453).
