Georgetown needed a slump-buster. They got it tonight in a win over Longwood.
The No. 15 Hoyas, who have failed to crack 50 in their last two games, finished with 80-plus in an 89-53 victory. Otto Porter went for 22 points and seven assists in the win and Georgetown shot 53.7-percent from the field in improving to 8-1.
This is one of those games that the Hoyas so desperately needed. After winning game in the 30s, then winning one in the 40s, I’m not sure they could’ve taken another game like that and still have been taken seriously. Markel Starks also was able to break his own slump with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range.
Being that this was the lone Top 25 team to play tonight, it’s something of a news item that the Hoyas were able to get back to respectability in the offensive sense. They needed to, badly. Even if it is against the Lancers.
