Eric Norman cleared to play immediately at Montana State

Norman

Good news coming out of Bozeman today as Eric Norman has been ruled immediately eligible at Montana State.

“That was our hope,” Brad Huse told the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, “and it worked out well to have Eric in a situation where he’s able to play this year. It gives us a lot of depth on the front line.”

You probably don’t know Norman’s name, but you likely know his story. He was one of the four players that Larry Brown cut when he arrived at SMU. He’s the second player from that group to have been cleared to participate immediately. Jeremiah Samarrippas was granted immediate eligibility at Tennessee Tech, and according to Huse, that played a role in the NCAA’s decision-making process.

“We did a little bit of research and knew that one of his teammates from SMU that had transferred was granted immediate eligibility, so that was something we were shooting for, but you never know,” Huse said. “We got word here last week that he was cleared; we were really excited for him and our team. I like our skill level and ability we have to make plays on the front line, and Eric just enhances that.”

Norman is a 6-foot-9, 220 pound forward that saw action in just nine games last season. He’ll provide some front court depth for a team that went just 12-16 last season.
