At some point we’ll reach the end of this Billy Gillispie/Texas Tech soap opera. With tonight’s report from Nick Kosmider of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, the question is how much longer will this go on for?

According to the paper Gillispie has been ordered to live in a “stress-free environment” for the next 30 days.

Practices begin on October 12, so does this mean that the conversation between Gillispie and athletic director Kirby Hocutt has to wait even longer?

Or does this new situation, with Gillispie now out of the Mayo Clinic, mean that the meeting will occur sooner rather than later?

The Avalanche-Journal received a text message from an unknown source Sunday night. The text said Gillispie had been treated at the clinic for abnormal headaches and kidney problems and was ordered to live in the stress-free environment while trying to get his high blood pressure under control.

A text was sent to Gillispie’s phone number and the response to the A-J confirmed the information was accurate.

Gillispie remains prohibited from having any contact with the men’s basketball program since the aforementioned meeting has yet to take place.

But Texas Tech is running short on time when it comes to making a decision. If they want to have any chance of improving on their 1-17 Big 12 record a decision needs to be made and soon.

Whether it’s assistant coach Chris Walker (who’s currently in charge) or Gillispie running the show that’s going to be an extremely difficult task.

But the last thing Texas Tech needs is this already crazy situation spiraling completely out of control after practices begin.
