- Myron Medcalf spent much of yesterday providing insight on the art of dunking and dropped a solid list of the top high-flyers to watch for in 2012-2013. My only real complaint is the absence of Xavier’s Dez Wells from the list. The kid is a freak, plain and simple. OK, I’d also add Utah State’s Kyisean Reed, but that’s just personal preference. Other than that, this is as good of a list as you will find
- Highly touted class of 2013 guard Tyler Ennis made his college decision last night, and will be attending Syracuse
- CBS released their coaches survey of the guys who bend the rules the most without breaking them. I wonder who came in a No.1?
- A few days back, it was reported that Eastern Michigan head coach Rob Murphy would leave the program in order to take a job with the Orlando Magic. But after a few days of deliberation, Murphy has decided to stay at EMU. If he were to have left, Murphy would have owed the school $200,000. This is not the first time the Magic have been left at the altar by a college coach. in 2007, Billy Donovan had one foot out the door following Florida’s back-to-back National Championships, but after careful reconsideration, he decided to stay in Gainesville
- Roy Williams continues to speak out about the academic scandal looming over Chapel Hill. He better hope that the basketball program wasn’t involved, because, well, he’d have to do a serious amount of backtracking
- Cal State Bakersfield has given head coach Rod Barnes a contract extension that will go til the 2017-2018 season
- Penn assistant coach Dan Leibovitz is leaving the program in order to take a job with the Charlotte Bobcats
- Frank Burlison provides his final thoughts on the recruiting season as the summer comes to a close
- Northwestern received a bit of good news yesterday, as 7-foot-2 freshman Chier Ajou was deemed eligible to participate. The Sudanese big-man is still rough around the edges, but as they always say “You can’t teach 7-foot-2".
- Ron Patterson was not able to enroll at Indiana because of academic issues. But according to this article, he has a list of 16 other potential landing spots. I guess none of these 16 schools take academics too seriously
- A pretty good read on what life for UCLA might be like without the services of Shabazz Muhammad. As you remember, the superstar recruit was deemed ineligible to participate with the Bruins on their exhibition trip to China
- Geno Auriemma, head coach of UConn’s women’s team, has no desire to coach Team USA at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil
