Former Kentucky guard Michael Porter indicted on sex crimes against minor

Michael Porter

Former Kentucky Wildcats point guard Michael Porter has been indicted by a grand jury on nine counts of sex crimes, among them six counts of third-degree sodomy and three counts of first-degree sexual abuse of an underage girl.

The indictment of Porter, 25, comes after his May 15 arrest by Lexington police as part of a sting operation.

The evidence gathered from the sting showed that he allegedly had a sexual relationship with a girl who was between 14 and 15 years old at the time of the illegal acts, according to police.

Porter allegedly came into contact with the girl at local church functions, where he was a leader.

In May, Porter pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released to a third party, but ordered to wear an ankle bracelet and not to leave the state of Kentucky or have contact with the alleged victim.

From 2006-09, Porter appeared in 90 games for Kentucky, averaging 2.7 points and 1.6 assists per game. He left the Wildcats after his junior season, reportedly to spend more time with his wife and family.

Porter is a native of Modesto, Calif.
