Who says you can’t put in work on the recruiting trail while out of the country?

Arizona, who is currently playing a series of exhibitions in the Bahamas, landed a commitment to their 2013 class (subscription required) in the form of shooting guard Elliott Pitts according to Scout.com.

Pitts, a 6-5 guard from Concord, California, plays his high school basketball at De La Salle.

A school known more at the national level for its football, De La Salle went 28-3 last season and reached the CIF Division I Northern Regional semifinals with Pitts being a major reason why.

For his efforts Pitts was an All-East Bay selection, along with other highly-touted 2013 prospects Jabari Bird and Marcus Lee.

Pitts took an unofficial visit to Arizona last week as they were preparing for their trip to the Bahamas, and that look at the program
proved to be the deciding factor for him.

“I knew for a fact that it was a perfect fit,” Pitts said. “I just felt really comfortable there with the coaching staff and coach Miller. There was nothing really wrong with the other schools recruiting me; I just felt like it was the perfect fit.

“Just by watching their practice I can tell they like each other and that’s the type of environment I wanted to be a part of. I can tell coach Miller loves his players and that was great to see really. And I think seeing the offense that they run and some of the plays, I can fit in.”

Pitts’ commitment moves Arizona back to having one in the 2013 class, as former 2013 commit Eric Cooper Jr. has reclassified to 2014 (he is still committed to Arizona).
