6-3 guard Justin Blake has found a landing spot after being declared academically ineligible by Austin Peay back in June, and he’ll be playing for a familiar face.
Blake, according to Luke Thompson of the Leaf-Chronicle, will use his final season of eligibility at Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee for former APSU assistant Scott Combs.
Martin took part in a tryout at MMC in late-June according to the paper, and in order to be eligible to play for the NAIA school he took three courses (two at Austin Peay and one at Martin Methodist).
After starting nine games as a freshman at Austin Peay Martin didn’t see much playing time in either of the next two seasons, and he averaged just 3.3 points per game as a junior.
With that being said he’s got a second chance, and it’s one that Combs believes Martin is ready to take advantage of.
“It’s an opportunity and I think it’s going to be a good fit,” Combs said in an interview with Thompson. “I can tell in Justin’s eyes that just to have an opportunity to play and continue his schooling means a lot.”
