ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.--After a high-energy Day 1 of Live in AC, Day 2 brought the same high level of competition from teams across the board. Check out NBCSports.com’s recap below:
Standout Player of the Day: Tyler Ennis, CIA Bounce
Ennis was among those mentioned as a top player from Day 1, but on Day 2 he really shined. With coaches from across the country looking on, Ennis picked apart defenses, showing a range of skills that could help him be an impact player at the collegiate level.
One Division I coach said, “Give him a suitcase, I’ll take him back with me right now and let him start for my team.”
The key to Ennis’ game is his poise. He never allows the defense to speed him up or fluster him on the offensive end. Off of the pick and roll, he drops passes right where they need to be, putting his big men in a position to score.
He also showed a nice touch within 15 feet, drawing the defense and being able to finish with floaters off the glass.
Other Standouts:
Steve Vasturia, Jersey Shore Warriors
Vasturia is regarded as one of the elite shooters on the East Coast and is committed to play for coach Mike Brey and Notre Dame. Though his defense still needs some work, he could fit into Notre Dame’s system well as a sharp-shooting guard with some size.
Mike Young, NJ Playaz
Young had a long list of high-major offers coming into this tournament and added to it after his performance the last two days. The athletic forward can rise up in transition, but also work in the half-court and step out away from the basket
Isaiah Whitehead, Juice All-Stars
Whitehead was much more aggressive in Day 2 than he was in Day 1, which is the key to how impactful he can be on the offensive end. If he finds his groove and can get to the basket, the outside shot follows and its easy to see why he is a Top 25 player in his class.
DeAndre Bembry, Sports U
Bembry was tough inside and out throughout the course of the Day 2, fighting through contact on the inside to finish. With Josh Brown and Hallice Cooke in the backcourt, Bembry found ways to get open on the perimeter and, when found with a pass, knocked down the open shot.
