The defense rested its case on Thursday in the rape trial of Oklahoma State basketball player Darrell Williams, who is charged with rape by instrumentation and sexual battery in connection with a December 2010 party.

Williams is accused of groping two different women and reaching into their pants without their permission.

The defense called Williams’ mother, two people who attended the party in question and former teammate Keiton Page to the witness stand on Thursday before resting their case.

“I don’t think he’s capable of these charges,” said Page according to the Associated Press. Head coach Travis Ford was called to the stand on Wednesday to testify on Williams’ behalf.

Williams was suspended from the team in February 2011 as a result of the charges, but remains on the team’s roster and has practiced while not being allowed to play in games since that point.

Closing arguments and jury instruction are expected to take place on Monday, with deliberations to follow.
