Trey Thompson picks up a fourth offer

Trey Thompson, a 6-foot-9 center from Forrest City High School in Arkansas, has always been big. But until this summer, the knock on him was that he was too big.

As his scouting report on ESPN says, “he could stand to tighten up his body which would increase his activity level and provide more energy. Doesn’t run the floor hard yet.” Well, guess what?

“I lost some weight,” Thompson, who has dropped a full 20 pounds and streamlined his body in the process, said at Hoop Group’s Summer Classic East. “I was working out like three times a day all this summer. Then we starting playing, and I’m just getting better results.”

The result he’s referring to is an impressive performance that netted him an offer form Mississippi State in addition to the offers he already had -- Arkansas, Memphis and Florida.

“I feel great,” said Thompson, who is currently ranked 33rd in the Class of 2014 by ESPN.

While that weight loss would likely help him thrive in Mike Anderson’s 40 Minutes of Hell system, Thompson is far from a lock to stay at home for college. “It’s all about making a decision that’s best for me and my family,” he said.
