Even an ex-UConn player wonders about Andre Drummond’s motivation

Andre Drummond’s been an easy target for writers targeting a guy who might end up as an NBA bust. The guy’s got great size (7-feet, 270 pounds) and physical ability, but it’s never appeared as though he really wanted to play hoops.

But when one of Drummond’s former Connecticut teammates says the same thing about him, that’s even more cause for concern.

Wing Jeremy Lamb told BlazersEdge.com that Drummond could be great and will eventually be great.

He’s just not sure when. From the site:

It depends on if he wants to work. He’s a great athlete. He can jump. He can block shots. He can rebound. I always say, it’s funny, we will have an early practice at like 8 AM, and everyone is trying to get warmed up and stuff. He’ll just come out and do a windmill to warm up. His bounce is amazing. I believe he’s going to work hard, develop post moves, I think he can be a great pro.

Hey, that’s why NBA GMs are leery of taking Drummond. He’s raw and may not be motivated to be a great player. That’s the kind of thing that’ll get a GM fired.

Don’t believe me? Adrian Wojnarowski says the same thing. Tread carefully, NBA.
