The Morning Mix

- This may be the best news I’ve heard all month: Tickets for the general public will be made available for the Georgetown/Florida aircraft carrier game

- Kentucky has decided to raise the ticket prices at Rupp Arena. That’s what a National Championship will do to you. I thought you were cooler than that

- Notre Dame has agreed to a contract extension with head coach Mike Brey. The two-time Big East Coach of the Year will remain in South Bend for ten more seasons. His new contract will expire the same year that Butler’s Brad Stevens does. Stevens got a 12-year deal with the Bulldogs after their first Final Four run back in 2010. That’s a 12-year contract. Wowsers. With Brey locked in for another decade, are there any limits for what his team can accomplish?

- It’s still kinda difficult for me to understand how/why St. John’s assistant Mike Dunlop got the Charlotte Bobcats head coaching gig. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one struggling. But apparently this will hurt St. John’s more than we think. According to a group of his peers, he was more than deserving enough to get this job

- Rhode Island guard Billy Barron, the son of former-head coach Jim Barron, has decided to transfer. But it is not certain yet if Billy will join his father at Canisius

- Wake Forest-transfer Tony Chennault has been granted a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA allowing him to play next season for Villanova

- Rutgers-transfer Austin Carroll will be moving to the nation’s capital in order to play for American University

- The U-18 U.S. National team has advanced to the gold medal game at the FIBA America Championships by trouncing Argentina 107-72. Julius Randle and company will face off against Brazil in the championship game

- Old Dominion and Georgia State are both on their way out of the CAA. That’s why it’s not hard to understand that neither team will be participating in the 2013 CAA tournament

- North Carolina’s James McAdoo made a smart decision in returning to Chapel Hill for his sophomore season. He finished 2012 with a head of steam and looks to build on what he started

- Syracuse big man Fab Melo was suspended twice last year because of academic eligibility issues. As the NBA Draft looms, the Brazilian has spoken out his educational issues. According to Melo, most NBA teams seem comfortable with his academic baggage

- Jared Sullinger’s draft stock continued to plummet yesterday, when he was medically flagged by doctors because of back issues

- I’m not going to sugar-coat this Mt. St. Mary’s fans, I’m only putting this link in here because once upon a time I provided content and coverage for the very same GametimePA.com site
